Installing Apache on NT 4.0 -- first time user
Hi folks,
it is supposed to be easy but it has not been so, so far. I downloaded Apache 1.3.20 from httpd.apache.org/dist/httpd and selected the win32 option to download. The intruction wants me to select START, then run "Install Apache as service (NT only)", but the problem is that, in the unzipped file, there was no file with that name. I tried to do the install AS SERVICE. I then went to httpd.apache.org/dist/httpd/binaries and downloaded the binary distribution, using the option win32. Here again, there were no .exe (executale) files. Again, the intructions direct me to execute files which are not excutables in NT, the file has the extension .msi. Can someone help me install Apache on NT? Thanks. |

Go here (maybe you already did it) ==>> http://httpd.apache.org/dist/httpd/binaries/win32/
and download the MSI file (with or without sources). If you PC "cannot recognize the MSI extension" in the same page at the bottom there are some links for installing the "MSI Binary Distribution Packages" for WinNt. Once installed the MSI package you can then click to .msi file and begin installation of Apache. Hope this helps. |

Thanks, following your directions, the MSI files now execute correctly on my server.
