Localhost same speed as live server?
For the past few months I've been testing directly on a live web server (shared hosting). Today, I set up Apache etc. on localhost. I assumed it would be faster for Apache etc. to load the pages because it was only dealing with one site.
Actually, my local server is slightly slower than the shared web hosting I'm using. Should I be concerned about my localhost setup?

No.
Your local workstation running Apache can easily be slower because 1) it may not be as powerful of a computer, 2) it's most likely running Windows (or any GUI versus non-GUI production servers, 3) it's running other applications at the same time, many of which are probably poorly written and resource intensive, and 4) any number of other factors affecting speed.
