Running Apache 1.3.14 of FreeBSD-4.2-STABLE
Configured for SSL-DSO-mod_auth_mysql-mod_auth_extrnal etc etc
Need to pp (password protect) my cgi-bin. Server seems to be ignoring my .htacesss file in cgi-bin, probably being v.stupid. Heres the config (bits removed to protect the innocent): (now removed)

<Directory "/usr/local/apache/cgi-bin">
AllowOverride All
Options ExecCGI
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
</Directory>

Why you need to protect your cgi-bin anyway?
Also, next time you try to provide more info, please do not copy all lines of your httpd.conf this way, it is wasting resource of Devshed, you should remove all the lines that are commented out.

mod_auth_mysql and cgi-bin

After reading another post on 'How to prohibit direct cgi excution' I have used that method to restrict access to the script, only allowing access from a referring page. Thanks for the help FreeBSD.
