Well... I've created and configured the files in the namedb folder: named.root, db.domain, db.##.##.##, named.conf, and the named.root file in /etc and created the s directory in namedb.
It took long... but I crawled through the process. That was my first time, so basically, I had no clue of what I was doing. I just followed the example in DNS & Bind and replaced their fake domain name with mine.
I am not sure if I have everything right, I'm actually pretty sure there are things not quite right.
Could someone be nice enough to look over the files for me? and see if I generally have the right idea? I started reading DNS & Bind, but I gotta say, DNS is really hard
Some help would really be appreciated. THanx

Here it is:

INFORMATION about my servers:
Main web server: 64.81.83.16
Primary Name server: 64.81.83.47
Secondary Name server: 64.81.83.48 (not set up yet)

I also have a long hostname (dsl081-083-016.lax1.dsl.speakeasy.net) I dunno
if that will effect my name servers in any way.
They also provided me with a Primary and Secondary name server. I can't
access them or edit them in any way. I had to enter the primary dns ip in
my web servers when installing... not exactly sure how that works...

FILES on primary dns:

named.root: www.webcanny.com/named/namedroot.txt
named.boot: www.webcanny.com/named/namedboot.txt
named.conf: www.webcanny.com/named/namedconf.txt
db.webcanny: www.webcanny.com/named/dbwebcanny.txt
db.64.81.83: www.webcanny.com/named/db648183.txt

Are there any other files that I need to create?

All [404] not found, so please repost.

How many static IPs do you have? I am with SpeakEasy as well and my plan came with 2 IPs but I requested another one for $2.95 something per month. There is really no restriction with SpeakEay so you really can run any server you wanted. That said, you can run your master+slave nameserver yourself, you don't even need stg.net at all.

Another thing, you don't need db.64.81.83 file at this moment. BTW, it's supposed to be db.64.81.83.47 and db.64.81.83.48 since you don't have authoritive for the entire 64.81.83.x (class C). You don't need that at this moment simply because you need to delegate the 47.83.81.64.in-addr.arpa. and 48.83.81.64.in-addr.arpa. yourself but that belong to SpeakEasy, not you. I like SpeakEasy also because they let you host your in-addr.arpa yourself on request with no charge and it takes 1 or 2 days to get that done. Once again, reverse lookup is not important at this moment, just configure your db.webcanny.com first.

Well... I've decided to just use Windows 2000. I got it set up in less than 2 hours and it's very easy to use. I'm using SimpleDNS right now, got any recommendations for a better program?
I might change back to FreeBSD once I become more familiar with the DNS system.
