My PHP site uses index.html with HTTP-EQUIV="refresh" to get it to open the index.php file.
But I want the index.php to be the default file that opens when the user goes to the domain so that I can put META tags in for search engines. Is Apache the right place to do this? |

I think what you're looking for is the DirectoryIndex directive.
