OK, I am pretty new to the world of Linux and Apache, but I am figuring it all out slowly. I am a webmaster for a small ISP/Webdesign and hosting company. I have my own server to play with and I wanna get PHP4 running on it. Apache is already running and the mod_so is not compiled like it should be to run PHP4. I read somewhere that I have to recompile apache, so here is the first of the 2part Q, if I recompile Apache will it mess up the configurations for frontpage(which the previous webmaster used to create and maintain his pages) or any of the other pages that I already have up?
So with that in mind, what would be the most effective way to get PHP4 working with apache? Thanks |

Hi,
I'm quite new to the linux-world aswell. But you don't have to recompile Apache if you use PHP4 as a dynamic module (DSO). There's an article covering this at webmonkey in the sub-cat programming->php I think. Good luck otis |

If you don't have mod_so already compiled in Apache, you MUST recompile Apache to install PHP.
Sorry. |
