Hello,
I am having problems starting the Apache server I just compiled. This is Apache v. 1.3.9 with mod_perl running on Solaris. Below is the transcript of the session: > apachectl configtest Syntax OK > apachectl start apachectl start: httpd started > apachectl stop apachectl stop: httpd (pid 29737?) not running > Does anyone have any idea what might be going on here? Thanks in advance. |

Always use apachectl graceful to start Apache.

Please Help - Apache Not Starting
Well that didn't help. It's still not doing anything to start Apache, other than saying "httpd started".

On what port are you trying to start your server ? If its below 1024 then you should be root to start it. Above it everybody can do so ...
