.SO file is not generated by apxs utility command

Hi Everybody,

I am a newbie to the web server environment. I have been trying to write a module and load it dynamically onthe apache server. I have followed all the steps to write a module . everything works fine but the .so file is not created .
I have compiled the code using apxs utility command . But no .so file is generated.

My environment is RHEL 5(32 bit ), Apache 2.2.3 . Any kind of help is higly appreciated.
