I recently looked into installing a newer version of PHP and Apache to add some features and patch some vulnerabilities. However, what I discovered was that it was quite an involving and daunting task. I found your article on installing Apache with OpenSSL, PHP, and MySQL support helpful, but I think a follow-up article on upgrading all those components on a Linux box without disrupting service would make a fantastic addition (especially for a clueless Windoze user such as myself).
Thanks. John |

Note, rpm binary upgrade is not the case here. I have to say that there is no such thing as upgrading for all those components, you basically need to do backup and uninstall, then reinstall from scratch and look for the changes then merge the backup to the new configs.
