tons of 401 errors ...
Hi PPL,
I operate a web site and when I check my logs, very often I see something like this coming... 10:50:00 401 error user sdouso does not exist 10:50:00 401 error user sdouso does not exist 10:50:00 401 error user sdouso does not exist 10:50:01 401 error user sdouso does not exist so to me it's obvious that there is a script that's trying to find a combination of username/password. is there a module in apache that can help me prevent this sort of scripts to attack my server ? is there a way I can do something to protect my server ? I'll appreciate any ideas, thoughts, comments. thank you. |

Don't just block it without any understanding why that happened. So start here -> http://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/mod_log_config.html
and do additional logging. |
