Urgent help - Redirect old URLs
We got our website done by a local company and they made a mess, There were multiple URLs to a single page and Google Webmaster Tool popped errors, showing duplication in title tags.
We immediately informed the company who did our website, They fixed the problem - created a unique url for each page, But now old urls won't work. Its been 3-4 days.
We've been trying to use .htaccess to 301 redirect each old url to new url manually, but its not working.
We're using the following .htaccess code
But this doesn't seem to work. The redirection isn't working at all.
RewriteRule ^http://carsizzler.com/news-detail/001831090/Hindustan-Motors-Inaugurates-Mitsubishi-Range-Dealership-In-Haryana.html$ http://carsizzler.com/news-detail/00183/Hindustan-Motors-Inaugurates-Mitsubishi-Range-Dealership-In-Haryana.html [NC,R=301,L]

Redirect is easier to use.
First URL is just the path, second is the full thing.
Redirect permanent /news-detail/001831090/Hindustan-Motors-Inaugurates-Mitsubishi-Range-Dealership-In-Haryana.html http://carsizzler.com/news-detail/00183/Hindustan-Motors-Inaugurates-Mitsubishi-Range-Dealership-In-Haryana.html
Programmatically, the best thing is to make the pages know what their correct URLs are and then redirect if requested through something different.
