Hello,
I have had this problem for awhile now. When I compile Apache without SSL I can use the rewrite engine perfectly to prevent people from hotlinking images. However when I compile apache with the SSL (using Open SSL 0.9.6) I cannot get the rewrite engine to work. It simple prevents any of the images from showing at all. I really need to use mod_rewrite and I need SSL for secure pages for customers. If anybody could give me an idea to why mod_rewrite refuses to work properly with SSL installed it would be greatly appreciated. Also to clarify more, I am not using the rewrite engine with any of the secured pages, just on regular non secured pages... but the regular pages refuse to work with mod_rewrite when I compile apache with SSL, whether or not I even use SSL. Hope this makes sense. Thanks for any help anybody can give.
