I installed RedHat 6.2 and it also installed Apache. Then I installed slew of software including Apache 1.3.12, PHP4, mySQL, SSL, etc. Now I noticed that “httpd.conf” are in two places;
(1) “/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf” and (2) “/usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf” Which location is the correct one and where is the line which tells Linux which “httpd.conf” to use? I noticed that the (2) has SSL features in it. Kirt |

I'm having the same problem.
I reinstalled apache /usr/local/apache/..... Old apache conf was in /etc/httpd/..... How do I know which apache linux actually loads on boot. |

Your description is better. I hope when someone answers, they also discuss as to how to NOT install (or UNINSTALL) Apache before re-installing the newver version.
