Specific folder not showing in localhost in any browser
Path to 'htdocs' directory of a specific project I'm working on:
Path in any browser to preview my work:
But that's as far as the browser takes me. The 'htdocs' directory is not there,
and when I try to type in the rest of the path I get an internal server error.
Renaming the 'htdocs' directory does not help.
The directory shows up in my editor, it shows up on the local side of my FTP software,
and it shows up when I go to it in Windows Explorer. The only place it won't show up
is in the browser.
There are also other directories within 'webapps', and they all show up and are
accessible. It's only the 'htdocs' directory that's gone.
This is not a WAMP installation, it's my own setup that's worked since I started doing
web design in 1999. In all these years I've never seen this happen before.
Anyone know what's wrong and how to fix it?

Have you looked at the error logs to see why Apache was responding with an internal server error?

Found the problem. There was an .htaccess file in the 'htdocs' directory. When I renamed the file, everything worked again. Not sure why that happened, though. I've used .htaccess files locally for years.

I'm 99% sure the problem is what was in the file. Not the fact that the file existed.

How would that explain it being fixed simply by renaming it?

Because now it's not a ".htaccess" file.
Do you... not understand how .htaccess files work?
