iis 5 - wwwroot
hi
i have used a bit of asp before and thought that all files to be published had to be in the wwwroot folder. i'm now using an application which has a virtual directory pointing to the files in the directory other than the c:inetpub/wwwroot folder (ie C:application/application name. how is this set up ? cheers chris |

In your IIS console right click on "default website" or whatever you have called it. Then go to New->Virtual Directory. Follow the prompts, its pretty self explainatory.

hi
thanks, though i meant that i thought that all files in an pplication had to be in wwwroot. is this not the case as long as its a virtual directory the directory it points to can be anywhere on the server ? cheers chris |

Yep that's how it works. You could even have a directory on a different computer and still setup a virtual directory to point to it.
