Hello,
Is it possible to struture a link in a Web site so that when clicked it will open a particular file on a CD-ROM? I didn't create the CD-ROM and the files are AVI and DCR. |

A file on the cd-rom on the client's machine? No.
You could access a file on the server's cd-rom...but I don't know what good that would do you. |

Here's my situation:
I work for a University that has correspondence courses. The student logs in to our server to access his/her course. This particular course has a cd-rom that accompanies the textbook. We'd like to link from the course directly to the file on the CD-ROM at the appropriate point. Lesson 1, Lesson 2 etc... Tell the student to insert the CD-ROM when accessing their course. Is this still not possible? |

Nope. That opens up a whole can o' worms if a web page can access a drive on the user's machine. Your best bet is to give extremely clear instructions on how to launch a program on the cd.
