Accessing my server through a router.
I have a computer, with the apache server running on it. it is a win 2000 computer, with all service packs up to date, and accesses the web through braodband cable. I am running the computer into a hub, which is connected to a NetGear RT311 router. When i plug the computer into the cable modem on its own, i can access the site by typing in the IP. When i plug it into the hub and then the router, and i type in the IP, it asks me if i want to log into the router's firmware settings. I understand why it is doing this, but i would like to know how i can set it so that it will pass through the router and access the server. I have no problems with dynamic IP's, as it only changes when i unplug my modem.

A little more details about your configuration and your router are necessary.
- are you using official IP? (i guess no) - does the router do NAT? (i guess no) - or does the modem do the NAT? (i guess yes) in any case, you have to configure either the modem to do NAT backwards to your server and/or the router to do the same. If it is a cheap router, it will probably not support this at all ![]()
