Action Cancelled

I have an issue I'm hoping someone out there can help me fix. I am trying to get onto my bank's web site and keep coming up with "Action Cancelled". I initially thought this was due to my bank's web site being down. However, I can go over to my other computer hooked to the same network and type its name into the search engine and it pulls the site up without any problems. Why would this only be a problem on one computer and not the other? I haven't changed any settings I'm aware of. When replying please be aware I am somewhat new to the world of computers. Thanks for your help.

Possible cause

I just noticed that in my case, my system is having a problem with banner and ad blocking. I installed and was running Proxyconn(an accelerator) and when I uninstalled it, I started having this problem. I just reinstalled it and the problem went away. I hope this at least points you in the right direction. Des

More info

Are you not able to get into the website or are you just getting the "Action Cancelled..." message?
I am still getting this message but I am now getting into the site I was having a problem with. It looks like Advertising is getting blocked by your system. That is the action that is being cancelled.
I hope this helps a little.

Question OK...then what?

Hi thanks for your response. I don't know how I found this site, but I am brand new to it. Is this site only for XP users?
Also, yes, I am getting into the site. It sounds like the advertising is getting in t he way like you stated. How do I correct this?
:confused
And....while I am asking you for your help, how do I change the font and color to my text??
When I change the color after highlighting it stays the same original color!!

??

I don't know how to correct the problem. Since it is not affecting any accesses, I can live with it. Also, it appears to be intermittent.
Unless you need to see ads don't be concerned.
As far as fonts and colors go, try the tools feature at the top of a web page and select Internet Options. Look to the bottom of the display.
P.S. I am not a techie. I am just a user like you. Once again I hope I have been of some help to you.

there are a few reasons why that message would come up, and most of it has to do with the HOSTS file on the system(s) you're using. i found this article, which should help a out (it has for me). if you have pop-up/ad blockers, or another app that would stop 3rd-party ads for showing, it may have altered the HOSTS file.

desm2 - proxyconn may have made changes to the HOSTS file too, so you may want to follow the link above for more information.

hope that helps. have a good one.

Well, I had the same problem with a few sites. Turned out it was my internet service provider couldn't access those sites, and I had to put in a proxy server.
Maybe it's the same with you. Contact your bank and ask, ask your ISP.
Have fun
Ralf
