Backing-up in Netscape

When browsing in Netscape, I occasionally find that I am unable to back-up one page using the green 'BACK' arrow. The only way out which I have discovered, is a rapid series of mouse clicks on the 'BACK' button (sometimes together with the 'Esc' button on the keyboard). Why does this happen and is there a better way to deal with it?

It could be happening because somebody has their page redirecting you to another page with a 0 second delay. They would use this tag <META HTTP-EQUIV="refresh" CONTENT="0;URL=http://my.newplace.com/">


That would make it so whenever you click the back button it would immediately redirect you back to the page you were on when you clicked the back button, I usually use IE, but I've noticed on pages that do that I can do the same thing you do to beat it, just double click the back button really fast.

Sorry I don't know of a better way to get around it, how about praying that people don't do 0 second redirects on their pages? (:

It also happens when someone uses frames on there site. When they change multiple frames with one link (with javascript for example), then the Netscape browser will go back in one frame at a time in stead of going back in all those frames at once to the last state you were in.
