I am a C/C++ programmer and I am just beginning my first Web project. The project is (simplified) to retrive data from a database and view it though a browser based on the users request. These are the basic questions I have.
1) What is the Web Server I should use.
2) To use JSP and Servlets, what software do I need and how do I get start
3) Are JSP and servelets the way to go?

I want to configure everything and get prototyping quickly. Please help me with any useful info.

Apache 1.3.12

jdk1.1.8_ELF.V1999-11-9.tar.gz
jsdk20-solaris2-sparc.tar.gz
You also need gmake and libtool to build

Then NO. Consider Apache+PHP3+MySQL

Check out http://java.apache.org if you still want to use JSP and Servlets.
