I have Apache, MySQL, and PHP installed on my Win98 machine and everything works fine now with the <A HREF="http://127.0.0.1/"whatever_file"" TARGET=_blank>http://127.0.0.1/"whatever_file"</A>
However, through learning what I am I need to become an actual online server. Does anyone know how I would have my own IP address. I own several sites and would like to host these on my machine - how would I go about getting this set up and how much would it cost?? Please help out! Thanks - Ken |

Master Ken--
Well you would need to get an static IP and a dedicated connection (DSL,ISDN,T1....), I have seen IP's that cost $10.00 a month, and DSL advertised for $30.00 a month...but prices do vary. Then you would need to get who ever does DNS for your sites to point the www entries to your static IP. Also, you said you are on Windows 98. Well you can use Windows for a server, but I would strongly suggest some form of Unix...Linux is free! Then you will need some Web Server software...use Apache, it's free. Then you are good to go. Party On! Tron |
