Books (What to buy?)
Hi,
I know some PHP, HTML, MYSQL, PERL and C, but im looking to buy some books so i can really learn everything. Can you good people of the board recommend some books to me that cover PHP4, MYSQL, HTML. I am not a total newbie but im not very advanced, i am also looking for books that are easy to understand for the newbie but at the same time can help even at an expert level. Thank you. |

A wise man once said - "the source of all knowledge is not what is in the book, but in what the book does not contain..." (Circa TrevHCS 2003) Don't know of any that cover PHP, MySQL and HTML in any depth all together because that would be one awfully big book, but I used one called Beginning PHP4 by Wrox Press (www.wrox.com) ISBN 1-861003-73-0 It does have a few things missing, for example it doesn't mention superglobals but generally it's pretty good. To be honest however, the Internet is probably a very good place to find out information about PHP and such (says he with a massive stack of computer books). Trev |

That is very true - at least a book gives a constant source of information. There also seems to be a lot of either wrong information or very old stuff such as on Webmonkey (assuming I'm allowed to mention them here), which never seems to update their articles....especially on PHP3.
