I lost my windows xp cd, So I now have an NRG image file of the windows XP install cd, I was just wondering if i have to do anything different while burning from the cd image, to make this cd install after I delete my entire hard drive. I appriciate any help. I just don't wanna delete my hard drive and not have a working Windows XP install cd, also I'm gonna use nero to burn it... Thanks,

I have nero but haven't used it yet. (I got my new computer a few days ago...) But if I remember right isn't there a "Burn from Image" option or something like that? Because uf yes, that is all you got to do.

There is a "Burn Image" option. That will do just what you want.

But will the CD start with nothing on my Hard drive? Like does it need to be a boot cd or anything? I just wanna make sure everything is right before i go and do that.

The windows xp cd is bootable. You could test by starting the computer with the cd in the drive and seeing that the xp install stuff loads off the cd.
You do need to be sure that your computer is able/set up to search the cd drive to boot from. This can be set in the bios (just put the cd as #1 in the boot order). Once you do this, then yes, the cd will start with your hard drive formatted. The bios is all thats needed to look at the cd. HTH |
