    Cant Link Pics To My Ftp Page !!!!


    Hello ... im working for a company and they have asked me to edit (add photos and some text) one of their pages ... i dont hav ftp experience but am quick to learn and i under stand i need to download the html page , change it, then upload it back to the server.. my problem is when im editing the page using komposer i dont know how to link the pictures that are already on the server to composer .... iv been tryin to get my head round it the last few days and id say my boss is getting impatient now .... PLEASE CAN ANYONE POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION ?

    All you need to know about FTP is that you can upload and download files from it. You can't link to images on it directly ("ftp://" and such), but if that FTP site is accessible on a website then you can link to that (as in "http://...").

    If you're editing HTML then you insert images with
    Code:
    <img src="location of the image" alt="short text description of the image" />
    If you need to learn HTML then your boss needs to know.

    i agree with requinix that you apparently dont have a basic knowlege of HTML and seems like your boss ought to know that.

    that being said, if you are able to view the picture that you want to link to in your browser, do so. then copy the address from your browser's address field and past it where i indicated in red below:

    Code:
    <img src="address" />
    the address is the location of the image file on your server... presumably where your website is hosted.

    note: using the image location in this way is called an absolute address and typically not the ideal. but it will work.

    thanks guys .... i have an understanding of basic html and am kinda learning as i go (teaching myself), i got there in the end using requinix's example.. pretty easy now looking at it ... thanks again for the help .... Who knows ill prob be leaving another thread soon

    about my boss... i am working part time for this dude for a while now, the job description was for web design and database's and since iv started iv been doing random jobs like on his house aswell as the site ... hes a cowboy who only knows how to send emails .. so id say its in his bets interest to keep me on.
