I would like to start a web site that could end up being very large. At the moment the site map tells me I have over one hundred screens. I would like this site to be very scalable to growth. If I started now with just a few features and worked my way to many more what would be the best way to organize my file dirrectory, Functions, global variables, images, etc. so I won;t have to overhaul every few weeks as the site gets larger. if anyone could give me URL's to tutorials, forums, or websites that contain such information That would be great!
Or any advise? I'm open. |

What kind of stuff do you want.
Hi, im only 12 but i know HTML and I know a bit on other web page stuff what do you want mostly a beggining web site or what I could help ya out. If you want I could give a sample page if you know how to put together HTML... Funney thing is I am trying to do the same thing as you and so far I have two web pages. if you want a free web site go to http://www.geocities.com or http://www.beseen.com I would prefer http://www.geocities.com though

assuming your starting at the "/" directory (say your site is URL The initial directory is "/" or "www.paulblo.com/")
home page - /index.shtml tutorials - /tutorials tutorial 1 - /tutorials/tut1 html needed for tutorial 1 - /tutorials/tut1/tut1.shtml images for tutorial 1 - /tutorials/tut1/images/background.gif "Tutorials" can be replaced with anything- just try to keep individual data in one directory. -Duke |

Ive done a page for a very large company , I used mysql and php to create a large knowledge base, this is the way to go , you can store all pages in the database and that way you keep directory tree clean and all you have to worry about are the scripts.
