ok here's my problem.... i'm trying to reformat my computer and i'm having error messages.... right now it's saying "please insert windows98 startup disk 2".. no matter what disk i put in, it doesn't work... and i'm also having problems with installing the cd-rom driver, i downloaded it and saved it to a disk, but I don't know how to install it.... any help with reformatting or installing the cd-rom drivers would really help me out...

Hi
Im guessing your new to this. Go to www.bootdisk.com, follow this link - DOS - Windows 9X/Me/NT/2K/XP Excellent Bootdisks. Download this bootdisk file - Windows Me OEM. run the file and let it write the information to a blank disk. Put the disk in the floppy drive and restart the computer. The cd-rom drivers will be automatically loaded with the boot disk. I think it tells you which drive is the cd-rom drive i.e. d:\ or e:\ or f:\ etc. type format c: at the command prompt to format the c drive or format d: to format the d drive etc. dont format unless your sure you can reinstall everything again after. good luck! |
