Desperate NEED OF HELP ( JSERV)

Hi all,

I am new to JAVA, and I am currently trying to create a JSP page that has a ODBC connection to an oracle database that can write to the database through the broswer..

Now I am currently using the following , unfortunately I am restricted to use ONLY this version of APACHE. ( Which doesnt help)

Window NT4
Apache 1.3.12.5
Oracle 8.1.6
Dreamweaver MX
IE 5.01
JRE 1.3
jsdk 2.0

Installed JRE 1.3 and jsdk 2.0 successfully

I have successfully installed the Apache web server, i have created and alias which I have thrown some HTML to prove that it works.

I read on the Apache website to install Jserv, which I have done so. This automatically updates the http.conf for the apache server.

I then created a JSP page using Dreamweaver MX. I try to view the page in the browser and it keep executing another window in Dreamweaver with the code. And if you do not have Dreamweaver installed, and viewing the JSP through the browser/alias it will just display the code.

I stopped and started the web server, but upon restart it Generates a ABNORMALLY TERMINATED and will not let me start the service. if I comment out all the entries in the http.conf for jserv the web service will start...

Is it that difficult to get JSP to run on Apache or am I missing something?????

PLEASE your help or advice is really appreciated........

thanking you in advance

Regards

Ed

PS I have also tried using JRUN for Dreamweaver and JRUN does not support Internet Explorer 5.01. So I had to rule this out.

Lightbulb hope this helps...

Hey,

I'm not a Java bean, so I can't give you advice from experience, BUT! I found a page that might help you out:

http://java.apache.org/faq/fom-serve/cache/210.html

Best,

nao
