Dial-up PC connection through mobile WAP?

Hi folks,

I'm trying to set up mobile Internet access on my laptop using a
GSM mobile phone I'm connecting to via an Irda infared port.

I can dial stand phone numbers and initiate data calls, that's
not a problem. The problem is the size of my phone bill! However,
with the UK mobile phone taffif I'm on, I get unlimited WAP
usage... and so here's my plan...

I'd like to be able to connect through my mobile phone and
access that WAP gateway, yet do all the things I could do on
a standard dial-up connection. Is this possible?

WAP usage on my phone is through a short code phone number
and the phone appears to dial-up just like a standard connection
(using a username/password combination through a standard
phone number) to initiate WAP access. So what I did was
emulate those settings on my PC and I managed to get a
network connection through my mobile phone on my PC to
that WAP gateway.

However, the problem is, once I'm connected, I can't do
anything! It won't send or receive any data, but the connection
is made. My question is - is there any way I can use this WAP
gateway to send and receive standard TCP/IP data and use this
as a normal dial-up connection, thus avoiding my phone bill?

I welcome your comments and advise. Merry Christmas!

Thanks!
-- Lee

Merry christmas to you.
I think that this is not the right place for such a question ...

Oh.. okay

Hi...

Well, the description of this board says "come here if you need
help with just about anything" and since the WAP board looks
pretty empty and lifeless, this is probably my best shot of
getting the question answered.

If anyone does have any advice on how to do this, I'd be
very grateful if you could spend a moment letting me know.

Thanks!
