DreamweaverMX PHPMyAdmin connection

GReetings,

Im a complete and utter beginer at this.

My info:
Im using DreamweaverMX on a Mac trying to connect my website to a PHPMyAmin 2.2.0 and mySQL database.

I can connect to my remote website fine but am told my php/SQL database etc is not located in the same place. Same hosting company diffrent server.

Im at a loss where i should be connecting to when I fill out the testing server diologe box in dreamweaver. The feilds are:

FTP Host:
Host directory:
User:
password:

I have been asking the hosting company for the info but am unsure weather they r assuming I know some kind of information/procedure that might be considered common knowledge or their just a crap company.

Im assuming that I create a PHP file, put it in my remote site and need to connect to the PHPserver via the testing server dialoge box part to then gain access to the SQL database.

So my questions r
1.Would the information I need to connect succesfully in the 'Show php information' link in PHPMyAdmin? if so what should i be looking under?

2. Do i seem to be completely missing the point on some step here?

If anybody is willing to give their time to trying to explain/help me with this I would be eternally grateful
