dynamic news content

I am wanting...to put news content on my site, much like DEVSHED but i need direction on where to get the content (the news story sources. I would like to have bylines with short abstracts...maybe a relevant picture to identify each story...and then a hyperlink to "see more of the story"---within my site. I understand that I can use PHP or ASP, or XML to pull the stories in, but where do I get the content? Are the buyable programs (no leasing or licensing) that I can set up on my server then link to my site? Oh, and I'm not looking for affiliate/freebee stuff that requires their links or templates to be used. I want my own categories, selections and customizations. I've been there...done that! If you have any real guidance, insights, or experience to offer, I would appreciate it. Help????

I'm not sure that there are many organisations that would be happy to have you present their actual story content on your site without you paying them quite a lot of money. There are many ways to grab headlines which link to the full story on an external site. I see from your site you're using Moreover - this is one way. Many content providers make a RSS file available which lists headlines and links to stories that can be parsed as XML - but don't release the stories themselves.

Try doing a search for "news syndication" or something similar. There are plenty of companies involved in the business, but whether you can get exactly what you want cheaply, I doubt. Most synication programmes still require a credit/link back.
