embedding cross platform sound files?

Hello reader...
I've designed a website for someone, and included a .wav file that plays on a graphic mouseover...

Unfortunately, her MAC friends can't enjoy the effect the way her PC friends can.

I've scoured the web now for a full week, and haven't found a solution for this...

I know MAC sound files are .aif... if I could find a comparable .aif sound, somehow play it in my own PC browser to test it, then write some kind of java script to direct the browser to the appropriate sound file, would that work?

For an example of the mouseover click: HERE (pass mouse over clapboard at that site)

Any body got an answer for this?

Thanks,
Diana

Also in Mozilla it asks for the file to be saved, it doesnt automatically play it. Generally to get the best cross-browser compatibility you are best to make it in flash

Thank you for the lead a.koepke.

From your suggestion, can I assume that I could and should actually convert each of the little clapboard graphics to a flash movie?

I have flash, but haven't learned it yet. If my understanding of what you have suggested here is correct, then I should:

1) import the two graphics that make the clapboard animation into my Flash program

2) assign the sound

3) save as a flash movie

4) embed in the document at the appropriate place

If the answer is no, please don't feel it necessary to go into a detailed "how-to". I appreciate the time constraints everyone has from my own experience, and don't want to take advantage of the good wishes here.

But if the answer is yes, I will begin my new journey into Flash.

Thanks very much,

Diana

There should be no issues with you importing the gif into flash and assigning the sound on the onMouseOver event inside the flash movie
