Would it be fair to say that programming is...

    ...a way to solve problems?

I know it's oversimplifying it a ton, bit I got an assignment to create three posters about what computing means to you, and I thought a part of it is solving problems, whether they are day-to-day problems or complicated mathematical problems when you're writing a piece of code.

So, veteran programmers, would you say that: "Solving problems is an essential part of computing and that the very idea of programming is based on the idea of solving problems." ?

    You could say that.

For curiosity, I tried to google "why was the computer made" which did return some interesting answers.
Maybe you can have a look there as well.
