Hi

Can anyone give me an average hourly/daily rate for undertaking freelance PHP/mySQL work?

I have heard that $50 per hour (about £35) or $350 per day is about the going rate.

I am currently salaried at $25 per hour so $50 per hour for freelance seems to me about right - is this correct?

Also can anyone point me in the right direction as the best way of picking up freelance PHP/mySQL work - ideally in the UK?

Many thanks

Kevin

Hi,

I use to work with projects instead of hours, because this has many advantages.

Normally the project is building a whole website or a shopping cart or something. For a website I charge 1200-2000 dutch guilders (545 - 910 euro, 1 euro is 0.8859 dollar). This is quite cheap, but these fees are excluding hosting and maintenance.

I hope this has helped you somewhat with your problem, Bizzk

P.S. Have I seen another thread by you on this topic?

Hi

Thanks for your reply, I found a site that lists average contract rates in the UK -

http://www.contractoruk.co.uk/data-recruiters.html

Actually there is some really good info on this site.

There home page is http://www.contractoruk.co.uk/index.html

I have assumed PHP to be on par with ASP so the average hourly rate for contract work seems to be about £44.

I think you rate for whole web site development is very low, but I assume that you get lots of work!

I posted the original request to 'beginners' forum by mistake it should have been submitted to the PHP forum

Yours

Kevin
