If by overrated you mean faster than cars that cost twice as much.

And on topic: Syk_Wit_it, unix is an os. I'm not sure what you're asking. If you want to access sites/computers that are running unix, you don't need to be running unix yourself. You can just telnet in. You'll need to learn the unix commands and such to do anything, but thats something you can easily find on google. If you want to do something else, you'll have to be a bit more specific. (And while #define Gangsta was a bit blunt, he is right, in that you really need to use more descriptive titles for your posts)

my goal

Look unix is an os but I just need to use it for teleneting, so really I could use Linux but whatever. Next yeah the reason i naimed the title this is because this is going to probably become a source of income for me. Now I'm going to be usin unix/linux which ever I can, to gain root acces and such to sites... I need quite a bit of training tho, and I've been trying to find a ez to use telenet program might have found one or two but mostly I need training

You don't need linux or unix to telnet to a unix system. You can do it from windows just fine. Telnet opens a remote connection to the other computer, which runs regardless of your os.
Now, as to how it will be a source of income, and why you want/need to gain root on computers that aren't yours, you won't be finding much help for that here.
Frankly, if you don't know how to telnet or find unix commands with google, I don't think you'll have much luck with this.

Or probably better than telnetting I would suggest using ssh, which there is a real nice client for telnet/ssh for windows called putty. Just run a search on google for putty.exe and you'll find it no problem.

The advantage to ssh is not sending your login and password accross unsecure networks, i.e. the internet unencrypted....

Also for forwarding ports encrypted like over the internet such as VNC, FTP, etc...

Okay cool it guys.

So from what we can tell so far:

Syk_Wit_It wants to use unix, not as an OS but for something else. He can't use google and doesn't know what telnet is and how to use it. He doesn't realize that you can telnet and ssh over any operating system (well, that I know of). He wants to gain root access to sites, and this is going to be his source of income.

WTF?
