how to shutdown another computer connected to a LAN
i'm working on more that 2 computers on different floors in our building.. it's such a pain going over all these computers just to restart them after installing my program..
how can i restart or shutdown a computer connected to LAN? can i run it using my local computer, i'm using win 98. pls help. |

There are a number of LAN management clients that allow Admins to "view and control" systems. The problem is that many of these tools have a dual use, as in also being hacker back doors like back orface.
True network OS's, like the NT based os's (2kpro, XP pro), have built in features that would easily allow network admins control systems on a LAN. One program, although if there is virus protection, it will delete the program, is called Netbus. We had a lot of fun with that program in the dorms. Again, it opens up a back door. |

Look at TightVNC. Assuming you can install stuff on the workstation, you can use it for remote access to pretty much any computer.
