install of php with Apache on windows 98

During the installation I get to this point 3
3. Copy the php.ini-dist to your sysroot (directory where you installed windows), rename it to php.ini, and
edit the php.ini to fit your needs.
4. Restart the Apache server.
.....................
The problem is simple, Where is the file php.ini-dist? it is not anywhere on my system, but there is a file php.ini in the c:\windows dir.

Another question: Want is the file size of php.ini-dist?
How can I test php to see if it is working?

it's there

Sounds like it got installed for you already. Sometimes (like if you get the ZIP distribution, not the installer), you need to manually copy and rename php-dist.ini to the windows directory as php.ini... sounds like that's already done for you.

You can skip that step.
