installing multiple versions of the same browsers..please help
==========
just wondering how i would go about installing multiple versions of both IE and Netscape browsers on the one computer. for example: NN6.0 and also NN4.7 IE6 and also IE 4, and 5. obviously this is for testing purposes, if there is any tips or hints anyone has to go about doing this correctly please let me know. i apologise if this question seems a little 'newbie' . . . i just figure why not ask some poeple who know. :-) saves for any mess later on. thanks guys, scott |

problem workaround
Hi,
I had a similar problem some time ago and I discovered a simple little program that can be used to emulate the different effects of the different browsers without actually installing different versions etc. It works pretty well. The tool is called Browserola. You can get it here. http://download.cnet.com/downloads/...la&cn=&ca=10001 |

With IE you've got a multitude of options, though not very great.
1. Install software to have multiple OSs on one PC, check the IE5.5 to IE5 link in the Lounge. 2. Have more than one machine running Windows and install multiple versions. 3. Have more than one harddrive with windows on and multiple IEs (like 2 but better if you've only got one PC). 4. Downgrade to IE4, test your stuff then slowly upgrade checking compatability. 5. Get other people to do the testing. Not the perfect solution, and add in that Win2K can't be without IE5+ then it causes probs. Basically try to work on IE4 unless you're doing anything outlandish and if it works there it will work on IE5. Unlike the NS browser variations. If you really want to go the whole hog, get Windows/Linux/Mac/Solaris platforms and test your code on all of them. Your coding may not always act the same even when comparing IE5 for Mac and IE5 for Windows. |
