Java- where do I start? examples

Can someone tell me a good forums/tutorials section for getting started with Java? I have done simpleton stuff like jboss and nukes that is just install and run, but I would like to have some basic background info on how it all works and where to start.

Even a basic book is too difficult. I keep thinking in terms of html and not of java. I am lost after 1st chapters.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Super (well maybe not) 123

Are you currently working from a book? If so, which one?

Have you considering taking a Java class at a local college? Sometimes, if written material is too complex to digest, having a mentor or professor to explain it to you can help.

A google on 'beginner java tutorial' turns up some promising sites that offer examples that you can walk through to help get started...

I found that http://www.bruceeckel.com has a really nice FREE book on his site called thinking in Java. Between that book and my previous programming experience, I found Java to be rather easy.
