I work in a small company with a windows NT server which all computers are connected up to for the network.
I would like to set up a website where everyone in building can access a database through webforms. I have worked on small projects on my home PC with PHP,MySQL, and apache as the server (Downloaded PHPDEV4) so I am familiar with the designing of the site. PROBLEM..... how do I go about setting up a webserver in the building and allowing others to access it from their workstations????? I'm not too familiar with networking! |

You'll need a static IP address - once it's setup everyone should be able to access the pages via the IP

In a couple of words.... not quite! :>)
localhost and 127.0.0.1 are internal to the machine you are on i.e. it resolves only to that machine. You'll need to have a true IP (can be an internal one) so ask your IT chaps for one or take a look at what the IP is for the machine it's to be running on - and then make sure that that IP never changes in the future. |
