Hi everyone! I am new to these forums, and totally new to all concepts related to DHTML. I have read some basic articles on the DOM, api, and what I need to do to build a sliding menu. Actually, I want to create a simple pull down menu from a list of links I have. Here's the layout of the information page for this site (it does nothing - just a jpg file): URL You can gather from looking at this page what I'm trying to do.
What I'm looking for is some information online that I can go through to get a sliding menu to work. I've already come across code that I can just copy and paste and use on a donation basis, but I don't want to go that route. I want to understand what I'm doing, not use someone else's ready made solution. I also have a pretty good DHTML text book, but it's dated back to 2001, so I'm guessing it may be too old. I'm only getting the tutorial I tried on pull down menus to partially work in IE 6, NS 4.7, and Mozilla 1.0. Is there anyone out there that may know of a great place for me to start to piece this all together? Or even someone that's quite knowledgeable with pull down menus that can hand me some advice?? To make matters even more difficult, my usage of javascript is limited to basic mouseover and disjointed rollover effects. If anyone is interested in looking at what I tried thus far, let me know, and I'll upload the mess for you to cringe over. Thanks for any and all help, Amanda |

if you want it to work in NN4, the book of 2001 might even be too new
Some pages to start with: http://www.devshed.com/ ![]() http://www.dynamicdrive.com/ http://webdeveloper.earthweb.com/webjs/ http://www.experts-exchange.com/Web/ Also you should download the references at devedge (or here for NN4). They´ll tell all the JavaScript commands, anything about the DOM and the differences between NN4 and NN5+. Another site worth visiting (for getting deeper into JavaScript and the DOM): http://w3c.org M.
