I'm new to this forum.
Now the reason why I became a member here was because the curiosity in php.
I've seen that php is a very powerful scriptinglanguage. I would like to learn more about it.

Now my question is.
How to start off?
Is there any tutorials on the net?
Is there some great newbee books to buy?

Hello bahrami,

There are some good books and plenty of online resources and tutorials.

I would suggest you take a look at the following:

Book- Php fast and easy web development (julie meloni)
Available from Amazon.com

Web - www.hotscripts.com/PHP
Tutorials, loads of scripts.

There is plenty about!

Cool PHP

If you are familiar with other programming languages then I suggest:

A Programmer's Introduction to PHP 4.0 by W.J. Gilmore and the php manual located at http://www.php.net

Hi,

When I started to learn PHP (not so long ago) I started with reading the tutorials on DevShed, from which I learned the basics of PHP (at least I knew what PHP was).

Then I bought a book (it was quite boring, but I am planning to buy something more interesting). If you want to know which book you should buy you should read this thread: Devshed Forums > PHP > Looking for a book on PHP .

I don't know any title of a good book in Swedish, but if your English is good enough you should try Judie Meloni's "PHP Essentials". I haven't read it yet but I have been told it is great.

When you have an questions, you should post them to DevShed (we have a special forum on PHP) and you will be helped by experienced PHP programmers.

Bizzk
