NS6.1 /Explorer 6

has any one upgraded to these browsers and had trouble with them? I just got my browsers working properly and now some sites i visit have new standards that screw up my page; NS6 was horrible so I am recalcitrant to move up until i get some feed back. Also cant you have more than one version of NS on the same machine? (ex: NS4.78 and NS6.1) I know you cant really do this with Explorer on a PC but i thought this would be possible to do this on a Win98 machine w/ NS ( I have different versions of browsers on my Mac ). Any feedback would be helpful.

My suggestion is to go for a browser that's much better than both ie and ns. I'm of course talking about Opera. There are a few pages that do not work with Opera, though this is rare, and only because the website coder has made the pages only for ei. The upsides with opera is that it's fast and resource friendly.

I've not gone near IE6 as it doesn't seem much of an upgrade. Netsacpe 6.1 seems so far to work very well. It's slower than IE and occasionally it has had some rendering problems, though a refresh sorted it out. IE of course doesn't always do CSS as it should, opera and NS6 being more realistic.

Opera cannot do innerHTML, hiermenus, and single tag iframes (it would appear). It's fast though cramped at times. What Opera does do very well though is allows control of history/cache etc without the hidden traces IE leaves.

After having used them all for developing I would have said, surprisingly, that Netscape 6.1 hits the mark more than the other two. It's just too slow and quirky at times though, and installs things I never wanted.
