Our website is being developed so that a MySQL database will be queried using PHP, the whole running under Apache/Solaris.
As an interim measure, we will be running a local Web server in order to update the database and I currently have PHP4 working via PWS/Win 95. The database would be uploaded periodically to the remote server.
My questions are:
Is the OS transparent to PHP/MySQL, i.e. will the same script behave identically when connecting to MySQL running on Win32 or Solaris?
Can anyone recommend a good tutorial for getting PHP and MySQL to talk to each other via PWS/Win 95?
Would it better to have the local web running under UNIX/Apache as well?
Thanks for any comments.
Tony.

I would recommend using the PHP/MySQL/Apache bundle that you can download from http://www.firepages.com.au/bundle.php3
It has PHP4/MySQL/Apache/MySQLAdmin all bundled into a .zip file and ready to run on a Win95/98/NT computer. Don't forget to turn off PWS before running Apache

You shouldn't have any trouble developing in windows, then running on solaris. the php and mysql will work the same.
