Redhat 7.3 - Prob Setting Up Qmail + POP3

Very new to linux, have installed Apache ok and installed qmail which also appeared ok - able to telnet to port 25 and smtp relaying is now working ok. Can telnet to port 110 on the box but when trying to authenticate to retrieve pop mail it will not connect and authentication fails - can anyone please help here or tell me what other information you need to help on this issue.

Its running the qmailpop3d service, qmail, daemontools, etc all installed.
