Network Properties

Dewerte,

Can you give me specifics:

1. Do you have a network card/port installed on the Laptop?
2. Which web browser are you using?

There are really two options here (1) I'm happy to help you try get this laptop working but you have to post stuff up here and wait for reponses etc., or (2) you can call the ISP's tech support and they'll usually be able to troubleshoot it for you there and then.

don't think that's it.

If you're connecting to the Internet successfully then I doubt it's a driver issue. The modem driver itself doesn't handle network functions like name resolution (DNS).

That's such a standard reponse - 'do you have the lastest drivers installed?' I hate it when I get that from support lines...

Still, everybody's trying to help here so no offence intended danieltys - just airing my view!

then it's network settings

I'm pretty sure it's got to do with your network settings then.

Let's work on the dial-up first.

What you want to do is open Internet Explorer and go to the Tools menu and select Internet Options.

Then go to the connections tab and check that your dial-up is in the 'Dial-up and Virtual Private Network settings' section.

Select the dial-up connection you want to use and click on 'Settings'.

Now make sure only the following are checked:

x Automatically detect settings

Then click OK and OK again.

Close Internet Explorer and then open it again and try connecting.

Did your ISP give you Primary and Secondary DNS numbers? (IP addresses)
