Hello,

I have recently decided to get into more back end stuff, so I got the Apache,PHP, Mysql bundle and installed it. Now I need to know what to do and how to make it run. I have no experience with this kind of thing and I am looking for a good tutorial. I am using Win 98. I have tried the webmonkey tutorial, but it seems to take for granted a certain level of understanding. I do know html, JavaScript and some Perl, if it helps.

Thanks,

cjubenville@expressmail.net

Download firepages bundle from http://www.firepages.com.au/bundle.php3 and follow instructions. Within minutes it will installs all required things. I have tried it. and it works perfectly on Win98.

I have downloaded the Firepages bundle and installed it. The test it came with ran successfully. I tried to access it offline through http://localhost and got an 'this page not available offline message. (the computer name was changed to localhost) Then I tried http://localhost/c:/phpdev/www/index.php3 and got an 'you don't have permission' type message.

I think I need to set permission somewhere first, but where? Is this the htpasswd?

Thanks,

cjubenville@expressmail.net

Do you have the Personal Web Server installed??? This might be the problem... If you do, go to it and hit stop. Then start Apache as usual and it should work.

I had PWS installed, but then I took it off and it no longer shows up in the add/remove programs box. I also had just Apache installed, but I took this off the same way (using the add/remove programs dialog box).

Thanks,
