uninstalling IE 6

i got this weird problem.

everytime i mistype a url it takes me here http://www.commonname.com/en/PowerS...0YXT0U=&app=100

everytime i type domain.com/something it takes me there too.

so i have to type domain.com first, and then type /something after the domain.com loaded.

it's annoying, so i want to reinstall ie. but i've no idea how, it's not in the add/remove programs

i searched microsoft support site for that. alli found was "How to uninstall IE 5.5 on Windows 95". and it tells u not to do this on win98SE or IE version lower than 5.5

i have Windows 98SE and IE 6.0.

how do i uninstall ie? or fix that stupid url problem.

if you could help

thanks

Installing FreeBSD would solve THAT problem and every other windoze related problem you are having...

It's probably caused by some damn program that you downloaded along with some file you actually wanted to. This happened to me as well; only mine went to a page in my Windows folder, which I deleted and the problem is gone (except it brings up lop.com when I mistype a domain name). I wish there was a simple solution... besides reinstalling... it's probably a sys config file or registry entry. Does ne1 know what that would be?

I highly recommend it. It can be a bit annoying and a lot of work to set up (I've set up many a server box and could do it in my sleep with one hand tied behind my back... setting up a workstation was a new experience, tho), but once you have things the way you want, it runs... and runs... and runs... and never a problem, just like my servers.

I don't suggest you uninstall IE6 since it has integration with Microsnot's Windows OS. Well you can, but you might want to resort to other options first. I had that problem once, actually a different one, whatever I type, I always go to google.com!! When I append folders and file names at the end of URL, it always looks on the google server, weird. It may be something from you downloaded as someone in here said.

You're a braver man than I....

If you insist on clinging to that putrid piece of garbage that is Windoze, at least get a real browser like Mozilla!

sounds like you have some spyware
download adaware and scan your system and see what you can delete.

but in the long run I would still recommend that you either a) use mozilla or b) lose windows completely.

That's what I opted for. It's easier than you think.

If you want to disable this feature completely, go to

Extras / Inernet Options / Advanced Options
Down in the list is an entry "Search in address bar" or similar, set it to "never".

Or do you really want the msn search engine back there?

Had the same problem. It wouldn't uninstall and Ad-aware wouldn't delete it.

Go to URL and download SpybotSD. It works great.
