You don't need a fax machine to get faxes. Get a fax-to-email fax number from CallWave. Try it free.

upgrading from php 4.0.6 to 4.2 with apache 1.3.22
I suppose this is a good place to ask this. Please note: as suggested by the forum, I am a beginner, and while I know a little about linux/unix (as they say, "enough to be dangerous"), I'm not very familiar with Apache and PHP. That being said:
I have a web server running Red Hat linux which came installed with Apache 1.3.22 and PHP 4.0.6. I want to upgrade my PHP to the latest 4.2. I have downloaded and "compiled" (?) the PHP, but I'm not sure how to tell Apache where it is, or how to find it, or... you know. Do I have to remake Apache? Is this a simple change to the config file? It just seems I can't find exactly what to do. If anyone has any information about this that they would like to explain in near layman terms, or could point me to some useful documentation, that would be fantastic. Thank you very much. |
