If I create a database using Access97, can I "Package and Deploy" it using Visual Basics 6, so that the DB will run on a machine without Access installed. Also if the answer is yes, what would I need to do, to accomplish this.

    Yes you can.
You just have to compile your project and make package with setup wizard.
setup wizard make your project self-extracting and include ODBC, etc that need run program.

If the database is accessed through a VB6 client the answer is yes (as above) but if the application is a self contained Access97 application you will need the Office Development Tools for Office97. This will allow you to compile and include a run time version of Access97 in your application, it also takes care of licensing issues. It isn't cheap though!
