Hi

This depends on you, but my idea is to always think about the type of services my project will have! Once I know that, I then design my database logic, because the key to how your service will function should be based on that database layout! After that I then make simple pages with my form elements and display elements that will be used in my program! Then I begin creating scripting pages and the core functions that will be used to handle the form inputs and user access controls!

Mind you this can take time because I try to test each function for speed, security and logic! Many times a function might have to be re-written over and over just to get it the way that it will best fit into the program I am designing! If your just starting then I would recommend looking at different open source scripts and study them, to get idea's and see how others have designed their portals!

Hi

You asked the same thing a week ago, and I tried to explain that this is to big of a project for someone just starting to learn PHP!

http://forums.devshed.com/showthrea...&threadid=83262

Now you post the same thing again, without really asking any type a question!

chrisinsd,

Send me a private message with all the requirements for this project. I'll take a look and send you a price quote for writing it and then teaching you how it was done.

Seriously, like Fataqui said, this is not a project for a beginner to try to tackle. You're going to have to start with something basic and work towards the final goal of the portal. For example, you'll probably need to learn some database basics and the basics of database driven web sites. You'll probably also need to learn to how to create an upload script. The list goes on and on.

My advice is to pick one area and write something relatively simple to get the hang of what you're trying to do and then continue to build your knowledge in that manner with different types of projects.

You're never going to get help by saying "I want to learn how to code a php portal". That's way too broad of a topic.

chrisinsd,

Please do not double-post threads, either in the same forum, or in different forums.

I have merged your 2 threads to avoid confusion.

In the future, one or both of your duplicate threads could be deleted.

Thanks.
